As a lifelong health and fitness enthusiast, Bonnie has an unwavering desire to help reduce childhood obesity in America. In 2010, she Co-Chaired the Coalition supporting congressional passage of the National Foundation on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, which raises private funds for obesity initiatives. Bonnie also serves as an Ambassador for ING KiDS Rock, a school-based youth fitness program, and emcees National Health Through Fitness Day on Capitol Hill. She is collaborating with White House staff and the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition to create a program for First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” platform.

 

 

In 2006, Bonnie was diagnosed with life-threatening blood clots in her left leg and both of her lungs, a condition known as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)/PE (Pulmonary Embolus). Since surviving her health scare, she has made it her mission to educate Americans about this largely-preventable disease that affects more than 2 million people each year.
